Engaging in an Inclusive and Equitable Future

Examine the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms with an immigration lawyer / legal immigration scholar. Discuss democratic values and how various public institutions and laws impact our daily lives as diverse Canadians.

Objectives

i. broader understanding and appreciation of Canadian democratic values and institutions 

ii. better understanding of rights within the Charter to strengthen your voice in building more equitable participation and treatment within Canadian society 

iii. increased knowledge of electoral and political processes with which to be active and engaged citizens for a better tomorrow

  • A chance to voice opinions that will be shared with community agencies and leaders at our Ottawa Conference (March 2019)

  • Opportunity to provide input into workshop content, so it’s relevant to you

Location: Halifax Central Library, 5440 Spring Garden Road, Halifax, NS  B3J 1E9, BMO Community Room
Date: Thursday, November 8th from 5:30-8:30 p.m. – Kindly arrive by 5:15pm for sign-in/registration and networking before a sharp 5:30pm start!
